El pasado 11 y 12 de noviembre asisti al taller de Paco Roca en el
Centro Cultural España, que al parecer es el ultimo oasis para los que
nos dedicamos a esto del comic. Ya habia asistido a un curso ahi con mi
admiradisimo BEF.
Quien es Paco Roca? Clickeé aquí.
El taller fué mas teorico que practico, pero se le aprende mas a un
autor cuando habla de su obra y la de otros sin interrupciones.
Puntos importantes:
Paco Roca es un PROFESIONAL, el primer profesional europeo que conozco
en persona, alguien que viene de una industria mucho mas boyante que la
nuestra en cuestion de comics.
Habló sobre la importancia de la investigacion y las referencias.
"Hay que creerse que estas dentro"
Hablo sobre la fuerza del dibujo para transmitir un mensaje, y que, en
el comic, caben TODOS los estilos.
Sobre que a veces las limitaciones de un autor se vuelven sellos
personales.
Sobre que en un comic NADA ES CASUAL.
Sobre "Contar la historia que te apetece"
Sobre la adaptabilidad que le dió el trabajar en publicidad.
Vi a un hombre feliz de dedicarse a esto, de ver al comic como un medio
para contar cualquier tipo de historia.
Que aunque no le guste dibujar perspectiva se aviente paginas como esta:
Que diferencia con respecto a otros autores.
Paco Roca tiene un apreton de manos vigoroso, dicen que puedes aprender
mucho de una persona con un apreton de manos.
Me hizo voltear a ver mis paginas y ver donde y como ando, y sobre
todo, a donde quiero llegar.
Una gran experiencia.

Here are the inks of panel 4 of page 9 of Yon Kuma Chapter 4, one of my
favorite YK panels in a while, done entirely with nibs and my
infallible brush pen.
Here's the page as it appears in Yon Kuma.
finished listening to Jim Dale's reading of Harry Potter and The
Deathly Hallows, so i'm done with the series. The finale was a little
fan-fictionish but I had a good experience all around.
Don't know what to listen next, so if anyone has any suggestions :) |

Heya readers, three quick things:
1) Due to hosting issues with the current site, we’re going to be
switching over to http://yonkuma.wordpress.com soon to finish out the
series, so change your bookmarks accordingly.
2) When the series is done (and we’re on the last chapter, so it’ll be
done before the end of the year), the whole series isn’t going to be
online anymore: there’ll be a free PDF of the first chapter on the
wordpress site, but the mobile device issues are gonna be the only way
to read the series after the end.
3) I have my own sub board over at Beyond the Bleed, and now there’s a
Yon Kuma thread for all y’all to discuss the series and/or chew me out
for item two.
Seriously though: the series isn’t over yet, but I wanted to thank all
y’all for the absolutely humbling support you’ve shown this comic; it’s
a goofy, fun thing we did, and the response to it has really meant a
lot to me and Jorge.

Next week Yon Kuma is changing servers so we'll have a new site for the
last chapter, this due some technical problems with our current hosting
provider or maybe it's my ISP. Don't really know. |
